These irreplaceable (temporary axle) replacements help keep your dropouts spaced at the perfect distance during welding or brazing.

Ask any frame builder in the history of frame building, maybe ever, and they will likely agree that Dummy Axles are one of the most fundamental pieces of tooling to have. These irreplaceable (temporary axle) replacements help keep your dropouts spaced at the perfect distance during welding or brazing.

All dummy axles are precision machined from 303 Stainless Steel and use 18-8 Stainless hardware. Both Front and Rear are compatible with all FARR Frameworks tooling as well as Anvil Fixtures. In addition the newest designs feature retained axle caps. The screw is held in the cap by a recessed snap ring, giving you one less thing to lose and the added benefit of the caps pulling away from the dropouts as you loosen them.

Currently I only have the following dummy axle sizes in stock by demand:

  • 100mm (+2 oversized) x 10mm QR Indexed - Front Axle

  • 100mm x 12mm Non-Indexed TA - Front Axle

  • 135 (+2 oversized) x 10mm QR Indexed - Rear Axle

  • 142mm x 12mm Indexed - TA Rear Axle

  • 148mm x 12mm Indexed - TA Rear Axle

    • Please note this TA was designed to work directly with Paragon Machine Works Dropouts. I have not verified any other brand, but I am happy to share the specifications if you reach out through the Connect page.
